Orienteering Challenge
Participating in the Orienteering Course is a perfect way for getting active, enjoying the scenery and green spaces with your family,
The challenge is to discover checkpoints (or controls) in the form of posts or plaques, positioned in forests, open grassland at Lever Park. You can find, navigate, and complete courses at your own pace. You just need a map and some simple instructions (below) to get you started!

Key information
- We will be using checkpoints 1-10 for this event; (these have been checked by UCLAN staff). The checkpoints consist of a post with a red and white plaque containing numbers and letters. You must record your answers (as specified) on the control sheet provided. Please do not tamper with these checkpoints in anyway
- This activity is suitable for all ages. All under 18s must always be accompanied by an adult.
- Families must stay together to complete the orienteering course.
- For your own safety, you must start and finish at the orienteering registration point, located near the Go Ape site
- Regardless of course completion please bring your maps and control cards to the registration point, failure to do this may result in us having to organise a search party.
- Please stay within the area marked on your map and take notice of the ‘out of bound’ section and private property.
- To complete the course of 1-10 checkpoints, participants will be mainly on good footpaths, we advise that you wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and to protect against cuts from brambles, branches etc
